EVERETT - More than 30 dogs were about to be put down inside a Louisiana shelter, but two shelters stepped in to save the puppies.

One of the shelters was Action for Animals in Latrobe, and the other was the Bedford County Humane Society.

"They were one hour away from being euthanized, simply because there aren't enough homes," said Janet Gates, the Bedford County Humane Society manager.

Gates found out about these pups through an urgent Facebook plea. These dogs had one hour left to live, unless someone would step in.

The Bedford County Humane Society partnered with Latrobe's Actions for Animals to rescue the puppies. They raised the $3,000 necessary to get the pups on a plane and fly them to safety.

Richard Wolf shared a Facebook video with 6 News as the pups left Louisiana.

"This is our angel, Ted, from Cloud Nine," Wolf said in the video. Ted is the Cloud Nine pilot who flew the plane to take the animals to safety.

Cloud Nine Rescue Flights mission is to transport animals from high-kill shelters to places where they will find loving homes. One-by-one the puppies were taken off the plane by loving arms after they landed safely in Bedford County.

A veterinary gave the puppies a clean bill of health. They are missing just one thing.

"They are just ready for people to love," said Gates.
